The Danish Refugee Council is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization working in more than 30 countries throughout the world. DRC provides direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world. It also advocates on behalf of conflict-affected populations internationally, and in Denmark, on the basis of humanitarian principles and the Human Rights Declaration.

In Denmark, DRC assists refugees in all aspects of integration as well as asylum procedures. Internationally, DRC actively participates in supporting the protection of refugees, and promoting durable solutions for conflict-affected populations. DRC International focuses on protection, relief, rehabilitation, post-conflict recovery, capacity-building, humanitarian mine-action, and advocacy.

Their two main aims are:

  • Provide refugees, internally displaced persons and other affected groups in situations of war and conflict with assistance according to their rights. This assistance can consist of relief and other humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and support to return home, as well as contributions to the promotion of durable solutions
  • Contribute to capacity building and co-operation between local and national authorities, as well as other relevant organisations. This work aims at strengthening advocacy and promoting solutions to problems related to situations of conflict, particularly with a view to improving the protection and reintegration of refugees and internally displaced persons

Description of the class:

Are you one of those people who start moving a feet when listening to Salsa music? Have you heard about “Street Salsa Style”? Don’t miss the chance to move not just your feet but the whole body by following Colombian Salsa!

The Colombian Salsa is also often referred to as Cali-Style Salsa.  Cali is a city in the southern of Colombia, which has been highly influenced by Caribbean rhythms which preceded salsa, such as Pachanga and Boogaloo, and others such as Cumbia. This influence has turned the traditional salsa in a completely different rhythm in parties and nightclubs of Cali, characterized by quick rapid steps and skipping motions. Because of this “Street Salsa Style”, Cali is well known worldwide as the international capital of salsa dancing.

In this class you will learn the basic steps of this style, which is the minimum you need to surprise people in your next Salsa party.

Bring good energy and see you on Salsa Caleña class! 🙂
